Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
The plant prefers room temperature, but can tolerate -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not hardy.
This beautiful appearance makes the plant one of our customers' favourite succulents of all time.
Senecio rowleyanus, known as Curio rowleyanus and often referred to as String of Pearls, is a succulent plant whose epithet "rowleyanus" is named after the British botanist and writer Gordon Douglas Rowley (1921-2019).
This succulent boasts light green, almost spherical leaves with a longitudinal translucent stripe and a tiny tip. The leaves are characteristically pea-shaped and are set on a stem that can reach up to 90 cm in length. Overall, the plant gives the impression of being a green necklace of pearls.
In summer, small, almost white flowers bloom, which have long red stamens and bright yellow anthers. However, the flowers often appear irregularly, for example in mid-winter.
The succulent grows in a semi-erect or drooping manner, which also makes it suitable for hanging containers. Senecio rowleyanus, with its unique appearance, is one of the most popular succulents among plant growers.
