Ideally, place in a sunny location. The plant is suitable for summer planting.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -4 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

Did you know?

It was created by crossing houseleeks and aeoniums – it combines their appearance and hardiness, but unlike houseleeks, it cannot survive severe frosts.

Semponium Sienna is a cultivated hybrid between a houseleek (Sempervivum) and an aeonium. It combines traits of both parent groups and is valued for its good adaptability in cultivation. Compared to typical aeoniums, it tolerates light frost, making it suitable for cooler conditions rather than strictly indoor growing.

The leaves are fleshy, spoon-shaped to obovate, arranged in rosettes. Their coloration shifts from green in the center to strong red or wine-red tones along the margins, with finely ciliate leaf edges. The rosettes grow on a distinct stem that elongates with age, giving the plant a more shrubby appearance.

Flowers are not the main feature of this cultivar, which is grown primarily for the striking coloration and form of its leaf rosettes.

Semponium Sienna requires a well-draining substrate and a bright position. Watering should be moderate and only after the substrate has dried, as it should not remain waterlogged for extended periods. It performs well in containers, where its color and unusual growth habit stand out.
