Weisse Hochzeit is a newer, vigorously growing hybrid of S. arachnoideum with larger rosettes and distinctive reddish-green coloring covered with white hairs.
Sempervivum Weisse Hochzeit is a cultivar with an unknown breeder and belongs to the S. arachnoideum group. This houseleek forms relatively large rosettes with a two-tone red and green colouring, distinctly overlaid with fine white webbing that gives a silky appearance. The contrast between the leaf colours and the pale hairs is clearly visible, and the overall look changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and shallow containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but the production of offsets ensures the continuation of the planting. Thanks to its striking webbing and contrasting colours, it is a good choice for expanding a houseleek collection.
