Did you know?

The name Uranus refers to the planet Uranus and suggests a cooler, metallic color scheme for the rosette.

Sempervivum Uranus is a cultivar bred by Martin Haberer from Germany in 1977. This houseleek forms spherical rosettes about 7–10 cm in diameter, green in colour with brown-tinted leaf tips. The leaf margins are fringed, giving the rosettes a finely textured appearance. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the planting. Thanks to its larger, spherical rosettes, it makes a strong and reliable feature in a houseleek collection.
