TIP for you:

Cultivar valued primarily for its strongly colored and variegated rosettes.

Sempervivum Saxon is a variegated houseleek with an unknown breeder. It forms rosettes about 6 cm in diameter with very strong and long-lasting coloration. Variegation is a defining feature of this cultivar, although non-variegated offsets may occasionally appear. The plant readily produces new shoots, and its colouring remains pronounced for most of the year, including during higher summer temperatures.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. During cold and wet winters, some protection from excessive rainfall is advisable. It is suitable for rock gardens and containers with good drainage and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand. Thanks to its variegation and reliable growth, it is a valuable addition to any houseleek collection.
