Did you know?

The name of this variety is taken from Pacaya volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Sempervivum Pacaya is a cultivar bred by Martin Haberer from Germany in 1998. This houseleek forms narrow rosettes about 5 cm in diameter with a brownish-red colouring. The leaves carry distinct tufts of hairs, giving the rosettes a finely textured appearance. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the planting. With its narrow rosette shape and noticeable hair tufts, it is a distinctive addition to houseleek collections.
