Sempervivum Martin I.
The plant likes full sun. Suitable for the rock garden or portable containers.
In a pot, water after the substrate has dried out. When placed in a rock garden, water lightly or not at all at your discretion.
The plant is fully frost hardy.
The cultivar originated from the species Sempervivum arachnoideum, so it bears its typical "spider web" characteristics.
Sempervivum Martin I. is a cultivar bred by Martin Haberer from Germany in 1983. This houseleek forms rosettes with a yellow-green base, complemented by a pink outer layer of leaves. When flowering, a light red flower appears, and the overall colouring of the rosettes changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the clump.
