TIP for you:

A popular cultivar of S. arachnoideum from British breeder David Ford. In spring, it stands out with its bright dark red rosettes with dense white hairs.

Sempervivum Maigret is a cultivar bred by David T. Ford from the United Kingdom in 1972 and belongs to the S. arachnoideum group. This houseleek forms rosettes with deep dark red leaves that are densely edged with white hairs in spring. This creates a strong contrast between the dark leaf colour and the light webbing. Growth is vigorous, and the rosettes quickly knit together into compact clumps. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but thanks to vigorous growth and the production of offsets, the planting remains intact.
