The name “Lilac Time” evokes the soft, lilac-colored hues the plant develops, much like the bloom of real lilacs.
Sempervivum Lilac Time is a cultivar bred by Enid Milton from the United Kingdom in 1980. This houseleek forms rosettes with pointed leaves in soft pastel pink tones with a subtle bluish sheen. The colour range is relatively broad and changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where long-term waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the clump. Thanks to its delicate pastel colouring, it works well in mixed plantings.
