Lady Kelly houseleek– a classic from the 1960s with rosettes up to 12 cm and striking year-round color changes.
Sempervivum Lady Kelly is a cultivar bred by Dr. C. W. Nixon from the United States of America in 1969. This houseleek forms large rosettes up to about 12 cm in diameter, coloured in brownish-red to brown tones. When flowering, a very well-shaped flower with violet colouring appears, reaching approximately 10 cm in diameter. The colouring of the rosettes changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and larger containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the clump. Thanks to its large rosettes and striking flower, it is a strong choice for growers looking for a standout houseleek.
