Did you know?

The name Heidi refers to older German first names, from which it originated as a diminutive or shortened form.

Sempervivum Heidi is a cultivar bred by Martin Haberer from Germany in 1998 and belongs to the S. arachnoideum group. It forms small rosettes about 3 cm in diameter with green-pink colouring, which grow tightly together and gradually create a very dense cushion. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and shallow containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but dense offsetting ensures the continuity of the planting. Thanks to its compact growth, it is well suited for ground-cover use among cobweb houseleeks.
