Did you know?

Thanks to its hardiness and undemanding nature, 'Green Hill' is an excellent choice for novice houseleek growers.

Sempervivum Green Hill is a cultivar bred by Martin Haberer from Germany in 2002. It belongs to the S. arachnoideum group and forms small rosettes about 2 cm in size that are green with white-tipped leaves. In spring the rosettes are lightly overlaid with fine webbing, and the leaf tips may bear small white tufted hairs throughout the year. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and shallow containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic – the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the clump. Thanks to its delicately tipped rosettes, it is an attractive choice even for detailed houseleek plantings.
