The plant is fully frost hardy.
It forms dense, extensive growths thanks to its numerous daughter rosettes, which is ideal for rock gardens, dry walls, or roof gardens.
Sempervivum grandiflorum Albiflorum is a botanical taxon native to north-western Italy and south-western Switzerland, occurring on limestone in the western and central parts of the Southern Alps. This houseleek forms rosettes approximately 2–10 cm in diameter, which are rather loose and fairly flat. The rosettes are velvety, green in colour, and emit a strong resinous scent. Pale yellow flowers appear in early summer, and growth is very vigorous.
It is best grown in full sun in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is particularly suitable for rock gardens and stony plantings reflecting its natural habitat and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand to ensure the continuation of the colony. Thanks to its vigorous growth and botanical character, it is an appealing choice for growers interested in natural houseleeks.
