Several different clones of this houseleek are recorded under the name Pharaoh.
Sempervivum Faraon is a cultivar with an unknown breeder. This houseleek forms well-shaped rosettes with fresh green leaves marked by distinct dark red to burgundy tips. The leaves are finely hairy, and the contrast between the green leaf surface and the dark tips is clearly visible for most of the year, with some seasonal variation in colouring.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the planting. Thanks to its contrasting leaf coloration, it is a noteworthy addition to any houseleek collection.
