Did you know?

The rosettes of this houseleek have shades of dark chocolate, which give them a distinctive and unusual appearance.

Sempervivum Chocolate is a cultivar with an unknown breeder and belongs to the S. marmoreum group. This houseleek forms chocolate-coloured rosettes, with the colour being most pronounced during the warmer part of the year. In summer, the rosettes darken further and take on a deep brown tone reminiscent of chocolate, while maintaining a compact and clearly defined shape. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the planting. Thanks to its deep summer colouring, it stands out clearly among houseleek cultivars.
