Did you know?

Centurian was created by the famous American breeder Edward L. Skrocki (1930–2010), one of the pioneers of modern sedum breeding. His collection included over 1,000 natural forms and hybrids, and he gave the world a whole range of now legendary cultivars.

Sempervivum Centurian is a cultivar bred by Edward Skrocki from the United States of America in 1981. This houseleek forms velvety rosettes in pinkish-purple shades, with colouring that changes during the year according to the seasons. The leaf surface appears soft and the compact rosette shape remains clearly defined as the colours shift.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the clump.
