David T. Ford (1911–1999) – legendary British houseleek breeder, who is also behind the Sempervivum Bella Meade cultivar. During his career, he created dozens of prized hybrids and was one of the most prominent figures in the Sempervivum Society.

Sempervivum Bella Meade is a cultivar bred by David T. Ford from the United Kingdom in 1978. This houseleek forms large rosettes with a violet-grey colouring that appears calm and balanced. The shades change during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the clump.
