Sempervivum Baby Boo is a cultivar bred by Volkmar Schara from Germany in 2000. This houseleek originated from a cross between S. arachnoideum ‘Albion’ × S. arachnoideum ‘Album’ and was selected from approximately 250 seedlings. It forms small, light green rosettes that quickly merge into continuous cushions. When flowering, white flowers appear.
It is grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation without problems. The plant is monocarpic: after flowering, the mother rosette dies, but thanks to rapid growth and the formation of new rosettes, the planting remains intact. Owing to its ability to form dense and long-lasting cushions, it is also a good choice for larger areas.
