Sempervivum Atlantis
The plant likes full sun, but can also tolerate partial shade. It is suitable for rock gardens or portable containers.
Water the plant in a pot after the substrate has dried out. When placed in a rock garden, water as needed.
The plant is fully frost-resistant.
The name Atlantis refers to the mystical island empire first described by Plato.
Sempervivum Atlantis is a cultivar bred by Martin Haberer from Germany in 1981. This houseleek forms small rosettes about 3–4 cm in diameter, dark green in colour with brownish-pink leaf tips. The colour contrast is subtle but clearly visible, and the colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and shallow containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces new rosettes beforehand, ensuring the continuation of the planting. Thanks to its smaller rosettes, it is well suited for detailed houseleek plantings.
