Sempervivum albidum (syn. S. × comollii) is a natural hybrid of Sempervivum arachnoideum and Sempervivum calcareum. This houseleek is also known as a parent of the cultivar ‘Oddity’. It forms rosettes with grey-green leaves, with the undersides and tips shading into violet tones. The colouring is especially pronounced during the colder part of the year, and the plant is valued for its good winter coloration. The name albidum means “whitish” and refers to the colour of the flowers.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, mainly mineral substrate that should not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand to ensure the continuation of the planting. Thanks to its botanical origin and strong winter colouring, it is an appealing choice for collectors of houseleeks.
