Ideally place in a sunny location, can be planted outdoors in summer.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

With its overhanging growth and fleshy leaves, it resembles the well-known species Sedum burrito and Sedum morganianum, but differs from them in its firmer and larger leaves.

Sedum treleasei originates from Mexico, from the state of Puebla, where it grows mainly in a subtropical biome. In leaf shape it resembles two much better-known Mexican sedums, S. burito and S. morganianum, but overall it tends to look firmer and more compact.

The leaves are thick, light blue-green, elongated, firm, slightly flattened, and can reach up to about 3.5 cm in length. Older leaves often develop a yellowish tint along the tips and edges, and sometimes a faint pink tone appears at the very tips. The stems may grow upright, trailing, or hanging, becoming woody with age, and they reach a height of around 20 cm.

The flowers are bright yellow and star-shaped, up to about 1.3 cm across, appearing in compact clusters. They are borne on stalks up to around 15 cm long, with flowering from late winter into early spring.

Sedum treleasei is a hardy plant that tolerates drier conditions and can handle light, short frosts. Because of its robust growth it also works well in mixed containers, where it holds its shape and pairs easily with other succulents. Sedum treleasei is a reliable choice for growers who want a firmer Mexican plant with attractive late-winter to early-spring flowering.
