The plant likes direct sunlight. It is suitable for rock gardens or portable containers.

Water the plant in a pot after the substrate has dried out. When placed in a rock garden, water as needed.

The plant is frost resistant to -28 °C. It can withstand Czech winters.

TIP for you:

It shows its colors most vividly on sunny rockeries, forming dense, low growths that provide a good contrast to darker succulents.

Sedum takesimense variegata is a variegated rock garden plant also listed under the scientific name Phedimus takeimensis variegata. The epithet takeimensis refers to the island of Ulleungdo, which was called Takeshima in Japan during the Edo period. The original form comes from South Korea and in the wild it occurs exclusively on the islands of Ulleungdo and Dokdo.

The leaves are green and cream with serrated edges. As temperatures drop in autumn, the leaf margins often turn pink to reddish tones. The plant forms succulent, woody, trailing stems that can reach up to about 40 cm in length and gradually spread into a low mat.

The flowers are star-shaped, yellow, with red-yellow anthers, and appear in summer.

In winter the plant dries back and resprouts from the base in spring, while tight rosettes can persist through the winter months. Sedum takesimense variegata grows best in a sunny to lightly shaded position in well-draining soil and is sought after for its bold variegation, which stands out in rock gardens as well as in containers.
