It likes sunny locations and partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

You can easily tell when watering is needed by wilted leaves.

Sedum oxypetalum is a stonecrop species also known by the English name Dwarf Tree Stonecrop. It is sometimes listed under the synonym Sedum arborescens. This is a woody succulent that grows in the form of a small tree and appears stable and orderly in cultivation.

The leaves are green, finely papillose, and finished with a small notch at the tip. They grow on branched stems that gradually become woody and develop peeling bark. The plant forms a shrubby to tree-like shape and, under good conditions, can reach a height of up to about 1 metre. Lower leaves naturally drop with age, which accentuates the trunk and the overall tree-like appearance.

The flowers are star-shaped, fragrant, white with a pink to apricot-coloured centre. They appear in summer and contrast nicely with the green foliage.

Sedum oxypetalum requires a well-draining substrate, a bright position, and watering only after the soil has dried. Excess water should not remain in the substrate for long periods. Thanks to its low demands, natural leaf drop at the base, and good response to pruning, it is suitable for shaping and long-term cultivation as a succulent tree.
