TIP for you:

This Sedum is prized for its abundant flowering – tiny yellow flowers appear in large numbers and the plant can literally "sprinkle" the entire clump with them in spring and early summer.

Sedum kamtschaticus var. floriferum, botanically listed as Phedimus kamtschaticus var. floriferum and also known under the synonym Sedum floriferum, is a frost-hardy rock garden succulent native to northeastern Asia. The species epithet kamtschaticus refers to the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia, which belongs to the natural range of this plant.

The species forms small, relatively fast-growing patches with flat, scalloped, dark green leaves. It produces numerous spreading to slightly ascending stems, which can reach about 10 cm in height. Over time, it develops into low, compact growth and can also be used as a groundcover plant in suitable conditions.

The flowers are yellow and appear in late summer, with blooms developing on almost every stem. Flowering is the main ornamental feature of this variety and brings a strong seasonal highlight towards the end of the growing season.

In winter, the above-ground parts dry back and the plant resprouts again in spring. Sedum kamtschaticus var. floriferum is well suited for rock gardens, dry stone walls, and other well-drained sites, where it stands out especially for its abundant summer flowering. Thanks to its reliability and hardy nature, it is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a long-lived and easy outdoor stonecrop.
