TIP for you:

It grows from Scandinavia to the Iberian Peninsula, where this subspecies originates.

Sedum anglicum subsp. pyrenaicum is a frost-hardy stonecrop distributed across northern and western Europe. It occurs in central and southern Norway, southern Sweden, Denmark, the British Isles, western France, and also on the Iberian Peninsula, from which this subspecies takes its name. Its natural habitats include rocky crevices, small ledges, stone walls, and sandy sites, and it is more common in coastal areas than inland.

The plant produces small, fleshy leaves that are alternately arranged, shortly cylindrical to almost spherical in shape. The foliage is grey to bluish, often with a reddish flush, especially in strong sunlight or cooler conditions. It forms small cushion-like patches with thin ascending stems that reach no more than about 12 cm in height.

The flowers are tiny and white, appearing at the tips of the stems during the growing season. Flowering is delicate and matches the miniature character of the plant.

Sedum anglicum subsp. pyrenaicum is an easy rock garden species suitable for rockeries, dry stone walls, and gaps between stones. It grows best in shallow, well-drained soil in a sunny position, where it forms compact cushions and spreads naturally over time. Thanks to its hardiness and low growth, it is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a small and reliable outdoor stonecrop.
