Ideally, place in full sun or partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

This form differs from the common type in its flat, less cylindrical leaves.

Sedum allantoides Goldii is a form of Sedum from the high mountains of Mexico, specifically the states of Oaxaca and Puebla, where it grows at elevations of about 2,100–2,400 metres. This plant was first described by Matuda in 1956 under the name Graptopetalum goldii. Compared to the typical form, it is characterised by flatter leaves.

The leaves are fleshy, light blue-green with a waxy coating, and in the Goldii form they appear more flattened than in the standard Sedum allantoides. The plant produces short stems that gradually become woody, while older parts may lose leaves with age. Overall, it forms a small shrub-like habit with shoots reaching several tens of centimetres in length.

The flowers are usually white, often with delicate irregular red striping, and appear at the tips of the stems during the active growing season.

Sedum allantoides Goldii is a hardy succulent best grown in a very bright position with well-draining soil. Watering should be done only several days after the soil has completely dried out, and the plant tolerates long dry periods very well. If you are looking for a Sedum with cool blue-green foliage in a flatter-leaved form, Goldii is an interesting and less common choice for a collection.
