Did you know?

This is a small form of stonecrop with very low and compact growth.

Sedum acre Minor is a small-leaved form of Sedum acre, known nicknamed Goldmoss Stonecrop because of its bright yellow flowers. It originates from Europe and has spread to North America, Japan, and New Zealand. In nature it grows on rocky slopes, stone walls, dry hillsides, and along the edges of old masonry.

The leaves are extremely small, partly deciduous, yellow-green in colour, and elliptical in shape. Compared to the typical species, the Minor form is even finer and more compact. The stems branch and creep along the surface, gradually forming low mats, with naturally dried leaves often visible on the lower parts of the shoots.

The flowers are star-shaped, five-petalled, and bright yellow. They appear in summer just above the foliage, and their colour is the reason for the well-known golden nickname.

Sedum acre Minor is a frost-hardy rock garden plant suited to sunny positions with light, well-draining soil. It performs well both in rockeries and containers, and with enough sunlight it tolerates very poor and dry conditions. Occasional repotting helps keep the plant in good shape, and this miniature form is a pleasant choice for anyone looking for an easy Sedum for sunny plantings.
