Sedeveria Red Lantern
The plant likes sunshine. If possible, it is advisable to keep it outdoors during the summer.
Water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand temperatures as low as -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
It is very similar to Sedeveria Letizia, but you can recognize it by its monstrous, irregularly shaped leaves. Thanks to them, it looks more striking and interesting than the classic type.
Sedeveria Red Lantern is a cultivated hybrid grown for its distinctive leaf shape. It is a man-made cultivar that does not occur in the wild. The name Red Lantern refers to the appearance of the leaves, which can resemble small lanterns due to their tubular and irregular form.
The leaves are fleshy, tubular to monstrose, sometimes unevenly shaped. They grow in rosettes that gradually expand and can form multi-headed clumps over time. The growth is compact, with each rosette made up of densely arranged leaves.
Flowers appear on longer flowering stalks, usually in late spring to early summer. The flowers are small and white, forming in clusters above the rosettes when the plant is well established.
Sedeveria Red Lantern prefers a well-draining succulent substrate, a bright position, and watering only after the soil has dried out. Good drainage is important when grown in containers. Thanks to its unusual leaf shape, it works well in group plantings and larger succulent arrangements, where it adds strong visual contrast and structure.
