The plant can be grown in a sunny location. However, partial shade is ideal for the plant.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

Room temperature is ideal, but it can tolerate temperatures as low as -1.1 °C for short periods. The plant is not frost-resistant.

Did you know?

The plant has distinctive aromatic leaves – when touched, it releases fragrant essential oils that naturally deter herbivores.

Plectranthus zatarhendi is an aromatic plant native to Sri Lanka. It is grown mainly for its decorative appearance and strongly scented foliage.

The stems are trailing to prostrate and spread easily. The leaves are soft, slightly hairy, light to medium green with occasional yellowish tones. The margins are finely toothed, and the leaves release a strong aroma when touched or crushed. The plant forms a compact, low-growing habit.

Flowers may appear on upright stems and have the typical form of the genus Plectranthus. They are not the main reason this plant is cultivated.

Plectranthus zatarhendi prefers a bright position without direct midday sun and a well-draining substrate. Watering should be regular, allowing the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Thanks to its trailing growth, it also works well as a cascading plant.
