Pelargonium odoratissimum (Aromatic)

Pelargonium odoratissimum is an aromatic species of pelargonium native to South Africa. It is grown primarily for its highly fragrant leaves, which release a pleasant fruity scent when touched. Thanks to its compact growth habit and easy cultivation, it is a popular choice for containers and indoor growing.

The plant forms a densely branched, low-growing shrub. The leaves are relatively small, soft, finely hairy, and shallowly lobed to heart-shaped. They are fresh green in color and produce a strong fragrance when gently rubbed. The stems gradually become woody with age, and regular pinching helps maintain a compact and bushy shape.

The flowers are small, white to pale pink, often with delicate purple markings on the upper petals. They appear mainly from spring through autumn and are borne in small clusters above the foliage.

Pelargonium odoratissimum prefers a bright position, a well-draining substrate, and moderate watering. The soil should be allowed to partially dry out between waterings. The plant responds well to pruning, which encourages denser branching.
