Pachyveria Yvonne cristata
Ideally, place in a sunny location.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can tolerate temperatures as low as -1.1 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
With sufficient nutrients, the crested form can grow surprisingly quickly.
Pachyveria Yvonne cristata belongs to Pachyveria, an intergeneric hybrid group created by crossing the genera Pachyphytum and Echeveria. The name cristata refers to a crested growth form, where the growing point becomes flattened and the plant develops irregular fan-shaped and wavy structures. For this reason, each specimen can differ in shape and continue to change as it grows.
The plant forms flattened stems with pointed blue-green leaves covered by a waxy coating. In full sun, the colouring can shift towards purple tones, which may become stronger depending on light intensity. The overall look is variable, shaped by the way the crested growth branches and folds over time.
Flowering is generally not expected in Pachyveria Yvonne cristata, and the plant is mainly grown for its growth form and foliage colour.
Pachyveria Yvonne cristata prefers a bright position and well-draining soil. Some crested growths remain stable, while other parts may revert to normal, non-crested growth, which can happen with crested forms. Pachyveria is a good choice for growers looking for a crested succulent and willing to accept that every plant will be unique.
