The plant thrives best in a sunny location. It can be summered, i.e., placed outside during the summer and moved indoors for the winter.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -1.1 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

Did you know?

This cultivar is popular because its leaves can develop a delicate "waxy" surface under good conditions.

Pachysedum Ganzhou is an intergeneric hybrid, most likely resulting from a cross between Pachyphytum viride and Sedum craigii. It is grown mainly for its striking coloration and unusual growth, combining features of both parent genera.

The leaves are finger-shaped, thick and fleshy, and covered with a fine powdery coating. Their color ranges from light pink to nearly purple. At first, the leaves are clustered in compact rosettes, but later they become more spaced along the stems and remain persistent mainly near the stem tips. Older leaves fall off easily. The stems can grow longer than 25 cm, often arching downward and sometimes forming aerial roots.

The flowers are bell-shaped with pink petals. They appear in spring and rise above the foliage.

Pachysedum Ganzhou requires a well-draining substrate and a bright position. Watering should be done only after the substrate has dried, as prolonged moisture is unsuitable. Thanks to its attractive coloration and easy propagation from leaves, it is an appealing hybrid that works well even as a standalone plant.
