Did you know?

Oxalis forms a thickened above-ground caudex in which it stores water reserves.

Oxalis Lima originates from an area north of the city of Lima in Peru. It is a rarely cultivated species of Oxalis that occurs in dry coastal conditions typical of this part of South America.

The plant produces three-part leaves in dark green to brownish tones. The very long petioles are a distinctive feature, lifting the foliage above the soil surface. Oxalis Lima also develops a firm stem and grows to a height of around 20 cm.

In spring, yellow flowers appear on the plant, borne on long flower stalks.

Oxalis Lima prefers a bright position and well-draining soil. During the growing season it can be watered more regularly, while in its resting phase watering should be reduced. This unusual Oxalis can be an interesting choice for growers looking for lesser-known species from Peru.
