Place it in full sun.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

Oscularia deltoides likes room temperatures, but can tolerate a few degrees below freezing for short periods. The plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

This plant will attract attention with the shape of its leaves. The shape of the leaves resembles that of a tiger's mouth.

Oscularia deltoides, also known as Pink Iceplant , Tooth-leaf Rock Vygie, is an eye-catching succulent with blue-green triangular leaves. These leaves are decorated with reddish-purple dots at their tips and have a waxy coating. The plant forms dense clumps with sturdy stems that turn woody over time and turn deep purple in full sun. The total height of the shrub can reach approximately 30 cm.

In summer the plant blooms with purple flowers in shades of lavender pink to deep purple. In the middle of these flowers we find yellow centres and one more remarkable feature. The flowers open during the morning and cover practically the whole plant during the day. In the evening, on the other hand, they retract again.

Oscularia deltoides is an undemanding plant, resistant to prolonged drought and occasional overwatering of the substrate. During dry periods the leaves may shrivel slightly. When transplanted into a larger pot, the plant has a chance to grow faster. I recommend mature plants as ideal for growing in hanging containers where it can form overhanging shrubs. It can also be made into an aesthetic tree or shrub by cutting.
