TIP for you:

This plant forms its offsets profusely. It will fill in the space where we want to grow it by spreading.

Orostachys spinosus was originally found in areas of Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia and China. It is a slow-growing succulent forming rosettes of thick grey-green to red leaves. The fleshy leaves have soft, spiny tips that turn white. The succulent forms abundant offsets around itself in all directions and the rosettes reach up to 6 cm in diameter. Over the winter it retracted into balls. The rosette of the monocarpic plant dies back after flowering. However, before that, it forms many offsets in order to maintain its growth.

This is a frost-hardy succulent that is suitable for the rock garden, in portable containers or other places we would like. Stony and well-drained soil is ideal for growing. In the rock garden, water only during prolonged dry periods. The succulent will retract into balls during the winter and will re-bloom in the spring. It will survive the Bohemian winter outdoors without any problems, but it must not be watered during this period. The plant is very resistant to pests and diseases. The succulent is therefore a plant that can withstand very adverse conditions with only minimal care.
