This cultivar has no spines or glochids, making it exceptionally pleasant to handle.

Opuntia microdasys Caress is a nursery-bred cultivar, likely of hybrid origin. It is grown mainly for its soft appearance and the absence of spines.

The plant forms small, flattened pads that are grass green when young and gradually turn grey-green with age. Areoles are small, round, and covered with brown felt, sometimes with remnants of dried leaves. Unlike typical forms of Opuntia microdasys, this cultivar has no spines or glochids, so it does not cause injury. Over time, it develops into a dense, shrubby plant reaching approximately 40–60 cm in height.

The flowers are pale lemon yellow, slightly translucent, and measure about 3–5 cm in diameter. Red fruits may form after flowering.

A well-draining substrate and a bright position are recommended. Water sparingly. Thanks to the absence of spines, this cactus is easy to grow and suitable even where the plant is handled more frequently.
