Ideally, place in a sunny location or in a place with diffused light.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Do not water in winter.

The cactus can tolerate temperatures as low as -6.7 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

The variegated form of prickly pear is prized for the irregular coloring of its segments, which makes each plant unique.

Opuntia jamaicensis variegata Ghost is a variegated form of opuntia with contrasting green and cream coloration. The light and green areas are distributed irregularly across the pads, and each plant shows a unique variegation pattern.

The plant forms flattened pads typical of the genus Opuntia. The pads are moderately thick, green to light green, with cream-white variegated areas. Areoles are small, bearing short and unobtrusive spines, or they may be nearly spineless. Growth is upright and may branch with age.

Flowers are rare on this variegated form when grown in containers.

For cultivation, a very well-draining substrate and a bright position with plenty of light are recommended. Watering should be moderate, allowing the substrate to dry completely between waterings. This variegated cactus is suitable as a solitary specimen in a smaller pot.
