Jovibarba heuffelii Upland Gem
The plant prefers full sun and is well suited to both rock gardens and portable containers.
Water the plant in a pot only after the substrate has completely dried out, and water the rock garden according to current conditions and weather.
It is fully frost-resistant and can withstand temperatures down to –34.4 °C.
The name “Upland Gem” can be understood as a tribute to a bright, jewel-like plant found in highland habitats.
Jovibarba heuffelii Upland Gem is a cultivar bred by Cornelis Versteeg from the Netherlands in 2001. It forms rosettes about 5 cm in size with wedge-shaped, shortly pointed leaves. The colouring is mixed, in shades of green, pink and red, and the leaf margins are light and fringed. The colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation.
