In 1980, it received the Golden Rosette award.

Jovibarba heuffelii Torrid Zone is a cultivar bred by Dr. C. W. Nixon from the United States of America in 1976. It forms smaller rosettes with oval leaves finished with long pointed tips. The leaf base is light green, while the upper part turns light red-orange to crimson, with the strongest colouring appearing during the spring and summer months. The leaf margins are fringed, enhancing the structure of the rosette. The colour character of this cultivar originates from the parent plant ‘Giuseppi Spiny’, developed in the 1970s.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging must be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. With appropriate placement, it maintains stable growth and strong colouring and combines well with other Jovibarba cultivars.
