Jovibarba heuffelii Red Hero
The plant prefers full sun and is well suited to both rock gardens and portable containers.
Water the plant in a pot only after the substrate has completely dried out, and water the rock garden according to current conditions and weather.
It is fully frost-resistant and can withstand temperatures down to –34.4 °C.
No special care is needed in winter. It is fully frost-resistant if it has dry roots and well-drained soil.
Jovibarba heuffelii Red Hero forms compact rosettes with firmly arranged, relatively broad leaves. The colouring is predominantly deep red to burgundy, gradually transitioning toward lighter greenish-yellow tones near the centre of the rosette. The leaf margins are finely light-coloured and slightly fringed, which accentuates the structure of the rosettes. The overall colouring changes during the year in line with the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging must be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and can be grown outdoors all year round. Thanks to its strong red colouring, it stands out clearly within mixed plantings.
