The plant prefers full sun and is well suited to both rock gardens and portable containers.

It is fully frost-resistant and can withstand temperatures down to –34.4 °C.

Did you know?

The name Lengai refers to the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano in Tanzania, the only active sodalite volcano in the world.

Jovibarba heuffelii Lengai is a cultivar bred by André Smits from Belgium in 2002. It is a smaller, compact-growing cultivar with rosettes in shades of pink and apple green. The rosettes have a distinctive shape that becomes especially noticeable in summer due to the succulent foliage, and the colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand to ensure continued growth. Thanks to its compact habit, it is well suited even for smaller plantings.
