Jovibarba heuffelii Henry Correvon
The plant likes full sun. It is suitable for the rock garden or portable containers.
In a pot, water after the substrate has dried out. When placing in a rock garden, water at your own discretion.
The plant is frost hardy, withstanding temperatures down to -34.4 °C.
The variety is named after Henry Correvon, a Swiss pioneer in alpine plants, whose collection of Sempervivum was started in his youth thanks to a set of natural forms from the famous botanist Louis van Houtte.
Jovibarba heuffelii Henry Correvon is a cultivar bred by Howard J. Wills from the United Kingdom in 1979. It forms large rosettes with apple-green colouring, clearly accented by bright red leaf tips. The colour contrast is well defined, and the colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand to ensure continued growth. Thanks to its strong colour contrast, it stands out clearly within a collection.
