Did you know?

The name Fandango is inspired by the energetic Spanish dance — and the colors of this cultivar are just as dynamic.

Jovibarba heuffelii Fandango is a cultivar bred by Dr. C. W. Nixon from the United States of America in 1972. It forms very large rosettes with a diameter of approximately 15–20 cm. The leaves are velvety green with distinctly red tips, and the overall colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.

It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging should be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and larger containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand to ensure continued growth. Thanks to its exceptionally large rosettes, it stands out as a striking cultivar within a collection.
