Jovibarba heuffelii Bramberk
The plant likes full sun. It is suitable for the rock garden or portable containers.
In a pot, water after the substrate has dried out. When placing in a rock garden, water at your own discretion.
The plant is frost hardy, withstanding temperatures down to -34.4 °C.
Jovibarba heuffelii does not produce classic offshoots, but divides inside the rosette and gradually forms firm, compact clumps.
Jovibarba heuffelii Bramberk forms small, firm rosettes with contrasting colouring. The leaf bases are fresh green, while the upper parts of the leaves turn dark red to reddish-brown. The leaf margins are lightly coloured and slightly fringed, which enhances the structure of the rosette. The cultivar is named after the Bramberk lookout tower in the Czech Republic, and the colouring changes during the year according to the seasons.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well-draining, predominantly mineral substrate, where prolonged waterlogging must be avoided. It is suitable for rock gardens, dry stone walls and containers with drainage, and tolerates year-round outdoor cultivation. The plant is monocarpic, meaning the mother rosette dies after flowering, but it produces offsets beforehand to ensure continued growth. Thanks to its compact rosettes and Czech name, it is an attractive choice for collectors as well as for smaller plantings.
