Haworthia maculata
Ideally, place in partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can tolerate temperatures as low as -1.1 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.
In the wild, it grows in South Africa on rocky slopes, where its spotted leaves blend in perfectly with the stones.
Haworthia maculata is a small succulent forming a basal rosette, valued for its compact growth and subtle leaf pattern. It belongs to the smaller Haworthia species suitable for calm, bright positions.
The leaves are firm, triangular, light to medium green, with fine spotting and slightly translucent tips. The margins are finely toothed. The rosette remains low and small, with leaves tightly packed together.
The flowers are inconspicuous and typical of the genus Haworthia. They appear on a thin, upright flower stalk and are small, whitish to pale green in color.
It requires a well-draining substrate and a bright position without direct midday sun. Watering should be moderate and only after the substrate has dried. The plant tolerates drier conditions well and is suitable even for growers who cannot provide frequent care. With proper cultivation, it maintains a compact rosette shape over time. Thanks to its small size, it fits well in smaller pots and collections of miniature haworthias.
