Ideally, place in partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can tolerate temperatures as low as -1.1 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

Grow in a bright spot, but avoid direct midday sun.

Haworthia herbacea originates from South Africa and naturally grows under shrubs in the Western Cape province. It is a small Haworthia valued mainly for its delicate leaf pattern and compact habit.

The plant forms small rosettes of greenish-yellow leaves with a noticeable net-like pattern and translucent areas between the veins. The rosettes reach around 5 cm in diameter and produce offsets from the base, gradually forming a dense clump with age. The leaves are upright to slightly curved, with firm whitish teeth along the margins and keel. In older plants, the colour often deepens into a darker green and the pale markings may become more pronounced.

The flowers are creamy white to beige with softly pinkish tips. They appear on slender stalks, most often in late winter and spring.

Haworthia herbacea is an easy plant best suited to partial shade, where it maintains its attractive colouring. When short of water, the leaves may look slightly sunken, but the plant recovers quickly after watering. If you are looking for a small Haworthia with fine patterning and a clumping habit, Haworthia herbacea is a very nice choice.
