Haworthia cuspidata
The plant likes sunny partial shade, but can also tolerate a sunny location.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
Short-term -1.1 °C. The plant is not frost-resistant.
The nickname "Star Window Plant" refers to its star-shaped rosettes with translucent "windows" on the leaves that allow light to enter the plant.
Haworthia cuspidata is a hybrid resulting from a cross between Haworthia cymbiformis and Haworthia retusa and is also listed as Haworthia cymbiformis × retusa. It is known in English as the Star Window Plant. The epithet cuspidata means “pointed” and refers to the sharp tips of the leaves.
The plant forms ground-level rosettes of bright green leaves marked with darker green translucent areas near the tips. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and end in a pointed apex. The rosettes can reach up to about 10 cm in diameter and tend to offset freely, forming dense clumps with age.
The flowers are white with fine brownish-green veins. They appear on slender flower stalks that can grow up to around 20 cm tall during summer.
Haworthia cuspidata is an easy plant that performs well in partial shade. Fertilizing is not required, though it can be used if desired. Species of the genus Haworthia are generally non-toxic to people and animals, making this hybrid a suitable choice for growers looking for a compact haworthia with translucent leaf tips.
