Graptoveria Iona cristata
The plant likes a sunny location.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can withstand mild sub-zero temperatures, but is not fully frost-resistant.
It originates from a cross between Graptopetalum filiferum and Echeveria setosa var. setosa.
Graptoveria Iona cristata is a crested form of the hybrid Graptoveria Iona, which originated from a cross between Graptopetalum filiferum and Echeveria setosa var. setosa. The term “cristata” describes a growth mutation in which the growing point flattens and produces fan-shaped, crested forms. This form is cultivated mainly for its unusual appearance.
The leaves are densely clustered, olive green and glossy on the upper surface, while the underside shows a purplish tint. The leaf tips are elongated and the margins finely ciliate. In the crested form, the leaves are arranged along flattened growth lines, creating irregular, strongly sculptural structures. The original rosette growth is replaced by a crested habit.
Flowers do not form on this crested form.
Graptoveria Iona cristata requires a well-draining substrate and a bright position. Fertilizing is not recommended, and watering should be moderate, only after the substrate has dried, as it must not remain waterlogged for long periods. It is an interesting and less commonly encountered form, well suited for collectors and those interested in unusual succulents.
