Ideally, place in a sunny location. The plant can be kept outdoors during the summer.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter. Water sparingly.

It can withstand temperatures as low as -3.9 °C for short periods. However, the plant is not frost-resistant.

Didi you know?

It grows compactly and forms small rosettes resembling saxifrage (rock plant) — perhaps this is where its name saxifragoides comes from.

Graptopetalum saxifragoides var. farinifera is a small succulent native to Mexico, specifically the state of Zacatecas. This region is known for its dry climate and rocky landscapes, where many specialized succulent plants have adapted to limited water availability and strong temperature fluctuations.

The leaves are flattened and cone-shaped, about 1.5 cm long, approximately 5 mm wide, and around 2 mm thick. The surface is covered with a powdery coating, and the leaf tips are often slightly reddish. The leaves are arranged in small rosettes about 3.5 cm wide and 2–5 cm tall. The plant produces side offsets and gradually spreads.

The flowers are borne on slender stalks approximately 12–15 cm long. The petals are reddish brown, with the tips fully colored and the remaining surface finely dotted in reddish brown. The petal tips are slightly curved, giving the flowers a distinctive appearance.

Graptopetalum saxifragoides var. farinifera requires a well-draining substrate and a bright position. Watering should be moderate and only after the substrate has dried. It can be easily propagated from leaves and, thanks to its small size and attractive flowers, is a rewarding succulent even for limited growing space.
