Place the succulent in a sunny location.

Water sparingly a few days after the substrate has dried out. Do not water in winter.

Requires room temperature, does not like cold. The plant is not frost-resistant.

TIP for you:

Water sparingly — like most spurge plants, it prefers a drier environment.

Euphorbia ritchiei, also known as Monadenium ritchiei, is a succulent originating from steep rocky slopes. In its natural habitat, it experiences limited water during summer and remains completely dry in winter, a pattern that strongly influences its growth cycle and cultivation needs.

The stems are green, cylindrical, and marked with prominent conical tubercles. They can reach up to about 40 cm in length and around 3 cm in diameter. The plant has a thickened base and produces several upright or trailing stems growing together. Fleshy leaves appear at the tips of the stems and are deciduous.

The inflorescences consist of pink cyathia shaped somewhat like the letter U. They appear in small clusters near the tips of the stems and stand out clearly against the green plant body.

Euphorbia ritchiei requires a well-draining substrate and warm conditions, as it does not tolerate cold. Water moderately during the growing season and keep it mostly dry in winter. When this seasonal rhythm is respected, it develops into a stable plant with a distinctive stem structure.
